Become a Christian

One of my greatest hopes is that this blog will help someone find salvation through Jesus Christ. If you have found this page, I am honoured that God has allowed me to present His plan to you. I am sure you will have many questions, and I would encourage you to seek out answers through someone local to you; whether that be a Chrisitian friend (maybe even the person who pointed you to this page) or a local Bible believing, preaching church. Below I have laid out the scriptures to show you the path, this is often referred to as the Roman Road, as all the versus are from Romans.

Everyone one of us has sinned.

Romans 3:23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

There is not one perfect human being (outside of Jesus, though 100% man, He was also 100% God). We all have committed sins and are unworthy to share in God’s glory. The first step to becoming a Christian is to admit this fact.

The punishment for sin is death

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life inChrist Jesus our Lord.”

The punishment for sin, any sin, is death. Unless Christ returns before you die a physically death, we will all experience death in this life. That is the punishment that came into the world at the first sin. There is another form of death and that is eternal separation from God. That is the punishment for our own sins and is much worse than a physical death.

Christ died for you

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Even though you have sinned, and no matter what the sin is or how many times you have committed it, God still loves you. It is unimaginable, I know – but true! Christ died for you, He is the way for you to be reconciled to God. He did this out of love and he did this for everyone.

All you have to do is call

Romans 10:13 “for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'”

Salvation is a gift, all you have to do is receive it. You don’t have to wait until you are a better person or more worthy of it, in truth none of us will ever be worthy of it. It is there for you to accept, no need to do anything before hand, no limits to who can do it, just a God looking to save His people.

Claim it for yourself

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Faith is all it takes. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, rose again as a sign He had concurred death. You are forgiven, your faith has justified you through the blood of Christ Jesus. Declare this truth, profess that you are a sinner and than you have received the gift.

The Sinner’s Prayer

If you believe what I have presented, I invite you to pray the below prayer. The exact words don’t matter, God knows your heart.

Dear God,

I know I am a sinner and I know that I can’t save myself, I need your gift of forgiveness. I ask you to come into my heart and be Lord of my life. Thank you for your gift of forgiveness and Salvation. Work in me to make me the person you want me to be. Amen.

Now what?
If you just accepted Christ as your personal saviour and put your trust in Him, welcome to the Kingdom! I would strongly encourage you to tell someone, ASAP! I would also encourage you to find a strong congregation (church) to be a part of. I would also emphasis that this is just the beginning. God has great plans for you and wants you to fully experience Him through your life. This is why finding a place to worship and grow with other believers is so important.
